You don’t set a goal of raising $50,000 within the first thirty days you’re in office if you haven’t got a lot of confidence you can achieve that goal. That’s exactly what Martin Daniel has boldly proposed if he is elected chairman of the Knox County Republican Party.
Who Is Martin Daniel?
Martin graduated from the University of Memphis with a JD degree, joined a law firm, and begin practicing law. He later established his own practice and then decided to leave the law profession to venture into the area of outdoor advertising.
He and his wife Paula live in West Hills. He’s a devoted dad to Sophie and Matthew. He’s not afraid to let you know how proud he is of Sophie who attends the College of the South. And he stays involved with Matthew and his Boy Scout troop.
What Qualifies Him to Lead the Republican Party?
Martin Daniel is a man who gets things done. After all, you don’t establish, develop, and manage five outdoor advertising companies without a great deal of drive and hard work. That’s why he finds it hard to understand the present state of the Knox County Republican Party under the current chair and vice-chair. In fact, at a recent meeting Martin described the party under the current chair and vice chair as “unorganized, unfunded, and underactive”.
And Martin knows what he is talking about. He served three terms as the state representative for District 18. He won every election that he ran for despite running in a highly contested district.
Once elected, Martin quickly went to work representing the people in his district. He served on numerous committees including Judiciary, Business and Commerce, and Civil Justice, just to name a few.
In addition, he was elected by his peers to the Fiscal Review Committee. In his final term, Martin chaired the Government Operations Committee from 2018-2020.
What Changes are Needed in the Knox County Republican Party
With all this political experience, Martin has looked closely at the Knox County Republican Party and come up with several goals he wants to achieve if he is elected chairman.
- Republicans will run a candidate in every race (unlike the most recent city elections where Democrat backed candidates went unchallenged, where State Representative Gloria Johnson went unchallenged, and where a Republican did not run in every school board race.)
- There will be a fulltime headquarters. No more wondering where you can get Trump signs or sign up to volunteer as in the past election. The headquarters will have regular hours, will be well staffed, and will be well-publicized.
- The Republican Party will frequently communicate with fellow Republicans using texts, emails, and social media.
- We will restore energy and activity to the Knox County Republican Party and will endeavor to preserve and expand our majority in County Commission and School Board contests
- Fundraising will begin immediately with the goal of raising $50,000 within the first thirty days, and Martin has the experience to do that. As founder and president of the non-profit, Defeat Duchenne, he raised over $750,000 to find a treatment/cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
While some of his goals may seem out of reach given the current condition of the Republican Party, Martin has no doubt that they can be attained. He, along with the other Conservative Candidates, is determined to make the Knox County Republican Party great again if elected.
The Knox County Republican Party Convention will be held on Saturday, March 29 at Rothchild’s Catering. Doors will open at 9am. If you haven’t registered, you can do so at tngop.org. Make sure and come out and vote. Let your voice be heard.
